Being Honest with Ourselves and Removing Our Masks

It has been said that the eyes are the window to our souls. Unfortunately so many people wear masks to hide who they are that no one ever gets to see their beautiful soul. Sadly enough, not only does no one else get to know the real them, but they often go through life wondering who they themselves are because they have lost touch with their own selves from spending so much of their lives wearing a mask and pretending to be someone they are not. We often begin wearing a mask for protection but who are we really protecting ourselves from, the world around us or our own selves? Are we trying to hide who we are or how we feel? Or could we be wearing a mask in hopes of becoming something we are not?

“Our lives only improve when we are willing to take chances and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves.” ~Walter Anderson
